Chocoholics anonymous meeting

May 6, 2008 by chocolaterehab

Hey there,

After three days at Sydney’s Mind, Body, & Spirit Festival, I have met so many female chocoholics! 95% of them are female, no surprise there but what I have found very surprising is that many of them are ‘happy,’ with their addiction and say things like : ‘ I love it, it’s my thing, I cannot go a day without it,’ ‘ it’s my only treat in life, and I don’t want to do ever give it up!!’ I have also met quite a few of these ladies desperate to talk and to ‘come out,’ in public that they really do  have this addiction, and are so grateful that someone else really understands as it is so socially-acceptable to be addicted to chocolate.

“Chocolate helps me through the day and  night!’

” Chocolate resolves everything!’

‘ Chocolate is so much better than sex!.’

‘I simply cannot function without my daily ‘fix’ of chocolate.’

‘Chocolate is the most exciting part of my day!’

I did feel that my book ‘chocolate rehab,’ about my own personal journey of overcoming chocolate addiction and my coaching programme too, would be received well, especially given the fact that there are few books if any that address it deeply enough and take it really seriously, yet being in Sydney chatting to these ladies I now realise just how much it is needed! This one lady screamed at me asking when my clinic was going to be opened! I’m looking into that right now and I am looking to set up ‘chocoholics anonymous meetings,’ in the area too as so many of them want to be with other women who really understand their cravings and know how they feel!:)

I’m very delighted that I really feel that I can really help these ladies indulge less in chocolate and more in their lives on a mental, emotional, spiritual, sexual, nutritional, relational, energetic and life style level..

‘chocoholics anonymous,’ has now really, really arrived, most certainly in the southern hemisphere!

Post-Easter chocolate strategy

March 24, 2008 by chocolaterehab

Hey there ladies,

In the Uk, where I am based, it is a Bank Holiday, being Easter Monday and you can feel in the air, the sense of many, many people feeling a little ‘uurgh,’ after consuming rather a lot of chocolate! It’s what normally happens at this time of year, it’s almost inevitable.

Today, therefore, I have decide to give you an insight into one of the best strategies that I took to overcoming chocolate addiction, that takes a little time but it is worth it, as, as with anything you want to change it is initially important to observe what is going on, so as to be able to hone in on what exactly needs improvement, as some wise person once said:

” Awareness is half the battle.” Very true. Once you have awareness, they you have a clear starting point from which to move forward, as with that perspective you can look at where you want to go.

I call this the ‘chocolator,’ it is a way of measuring when you eat chocolate, and how you feel when you eat it before, during and after. This tracking of your chocolate habits serves to help you see your emotional, thought and behaviourial patterns around chocolate and really, really helped me to see which areas I really need to work on. For example: I discovered that when I ate a LOT of chocolate, was when I was feeling low about myself and where my life was at, so eating chocolate gave me a short-term buzz and a kind of emotional numbness they allowed me to ‘breathe’ a little. Of course this was followed by me feeling even worse, and worrying about not fitting into my clothes and just feeling awfully sick. Familiar?

So, just by taking a sheet of paper, or writing in your diary the times and amounts of chocolate that you eat, and then next to these dates, write your feelings before, during and after, and let me know how you get on.

I look forward to hearing how you get on:) I know this step really starting me on my journey to truly taking my chocolate addiction seriously and heightened my determination in overcoming it! I really hopes that this helps you too!

Overcoming chocolate addiction of over a decade!

February 18, 2008 by chocolaterehab

Hey There,

I’m Carrie Eddins, and I’m starting this blog to see how I can help other ladies out there overcome their chocolate addiction, like I have overcome my very, very serious chocolate addiction- we’re talking over ten years worth!!

Over the next few days and weeks, and even months I will be sharing with you lots of ways of how I overcame my chocolate addiction, through learning how to indulge more in my life and less in chocolate. I feel chocolate addiction is overlooked, and underplayed by lots of women but I am sure that there are a lot of women who look to chocolate as a ‘emotional crutch,’ to eat when they are feeling low, feeling sad, feeling in need of a bit of love, and find it easier to
dive into a box of chocolate than risk rejection with their partner in the boudoir through asking for what they want! I know, I have most certainly found all of the above to be true and then some!

I welcome questions and posting from ladies, sorry no gents here, about your chocolate addiction to see how I can help you!

I’ve put everything I know, and every single thing that I myself did to overcome my addiction into a book that’s out very soon called ‘chocolate rehab,’ I’ll be keeping you informed about it’s release and be giving you my hot tips from it in the meantime I wish you all a happy Easter, and I really look forward to hearing from you and getting to know you all.

Namaste & hugs,

Carrie Eddinsxx
